Nature Days Overview

Hey pixies!
Tomorrow (May 23rd) Nature Days begin!
This is essentially Earth Day, in pixie form. :)
So, I can tell from the Never News and the Events pages on the pixie Hollow site that there will be a quest to earn your badge for Nature Days 2012. Sadly, this quest doesn't seem very intriguing, mainly because in the Never News and Events, it says stuff about "making a list" and "flying back the next day". I'm inferring that we have to make a list of all the things we can do to make a green planet and try to do them during Nature Days. This quest will probably involve nonmembers, as Kit has never had a quest only for members.
Save the earth, pixies! It's the only place with pie!

Do you think there will be special visits from any fairies during this celebration? Yes, there will be! Kit should be flying into Evergreen Overlook to help us with our recycling duties!
I'm gonna play lots of Tinker Toss, because using old objects instead of throwing them away is as good as recycling.
Tomorrow, a new contest will be released! It seems to involve both drawing... and your opinion on the enviroment! Well, I definitely won't be winning a drawing contest anytime soon, so I'll stick to thoughtful insights on the enviroment. :D
I also can't wait to see if there are any special styles released, because I'm a big conservationist.
What will you guys do during Nature Days?

See you 'round the Hollow!

Boredom, Books

Okay, sorry for not posting in a while, but there's been nothing new on Pixie Hollow. The Never Council needs to keep us entertained! Don't they know that our generation has the attention span of a goldfish?
(Okay, maybe we have a longer attention span than a goldfish. The attention span of a goldfish is three-hey, look! A butterfly!)
So, instead of being boring and talking about goldfish (yawn) I'm actually going to recommend you a few books.
Okay, don't look so surprised!
Seriously. Reading's good for you (most of the time). Now, you may say, hey, this is a blog about Pixie Hollow! Stop talking to us about books and all that yada yada! But no. I've noticed that Pixie Hollow does HUGE updates all at once, then leaves things to stew for the entire month. I'm not a cook, and I bore easily. So in between the gaps that the infrequent updates leave wide open, read (or at least try to read) some of these books!

FOR EVERYBODY:
These books should be good for everyone, as long as your reading is at about fifth-grade level. Please note that this doesn't mean you have to be 10 or older. Your reading level can be much higher than your grade; it's not uncommon. But anyway, there isn't too much violence or gory details in these books, though there may be some demonstrations of affection.
  • Abby Carnelia's One and Only Magical Power: by David Pogue
  • Percy Jackson series: by Rick Riordan (Actually, read everything by Rick Riordan that you can get your hands on.)
  • The Akhenaten Adventure: by P. B. Kerr
  • Harry Potter: by J. K. Rowling (I hope you've read these already! If you haven't, only books one through four can fit into this category [for everybody])
  • Green: by Laura Peyton Roberts
  • The Alchemist: by Michael Scott
PG-13:
Yes, parental guidance is suggested. These books contain more gory details and more of the personal life of the characters involved.
  • Harry Potter: by J. K. Rowling (the rest of the series)
  • Alex Rider Series: by Anthony Horowitz (Stormbreaker is the first one)
  • The Ranger's Apprentice: by John Flanagan
  • Skulduggery Pleasant: by Derek Landy (If skeletons give you nightmares, don't read this. Also, only books one and two are in this category.)
  • The City of the Beasts: by Isabel Allende (If you know Spanish, read it in Spanish. If you only know how to say "hola", don't bother reading this book. Really. It's insanely good in Spanish, and the English version can't quite compare.)
  • The Tapestry Series: by Henry H. Neff (Enjoy the illustrations, he did them himself.)
ADULT:
These books are ADULT. Read these books only if you are 14 or older, or ask your parents about it. I'm not kidding. These books aren't the worst (read: most inappropriate) I've read, but you still need to get your parent's permission before reading them.
  • The Hunger Games: by Suzanne Collins
  • Poison Study: by Maria V. Snyder (Definitely have your parents read this one before you.)
  • Graceling: by Kristin Cashore
  • Divergent: by Veronica Roth
  • Skulduggery Pleasant Series: by Derek Landy (Please note that books three to however-many-come-out-in-the-future are in this category, and books four and onwards are only availible in the UK. Bummer.)
Hope you enjoy these books! Comment any books you think everyone has to read.

Plant-tastic Challenge~Never News

Plant-tastic Challenge

May 17, 2012
Posted by: Kit

Calling all green thumbs! We’re looking for the most flitterific Fairy Gardens in honor of Nature Days, which starts next week. Up to the challenge? Deck out your Fairy Garden with decorations and plant some seeds. Then, invite your friends over and take a snapshot (instructions here). Bonus points for a snapshot that includes a friend singing to your plants!
When you’ve got the pixie perfect snapshot, submit it to the Share Your Creativity Page as “art.” You have one week – the last day to enter the challenge is Thursday, May 24. We’ll feature some of our favorites later this month, and those Fairies will earn the Flitterific Home Design badge!
Keep it dusty,
Kit

New Stuff 5/17/12

Hey pixies! Today in the hollow we've actually got TONS of new stuff!
In the Queen's Boutique:
This dress is actually the one that the shopkeeper, Erica, is wearing!

And in the Pixie Post Office:

Two new dress-and-skirt sets, and...

EARRINGS!
I'm really psyched about the earrings :)
They have Tassel Earrings (top) and Shell Earrings (bottom).
I love that there's tons of new stuff and it's not the monthly update yet!
See ya around the hollow,

Mix-And-Match: PPO, 5/16/12

The PPO will be getting new stuff tomorrow, so I decided to honor the Lyria dress in this little Mix-And-Match I made! It doesn't look too great, but I wanted to try to complement the Unstoppable outfit at least a little. Ah well, I suppose it could be worse!

Electric Purple Wayfairy Glasses
Plum Purple Ivy Tank Top
Camellia Pink Flowing Flower Skirt
Electric Purple Sky High Laceups

Remember, the Plum Purple Ivy Tank Top and the Camellia Pink Flowing Flower Skirt will be gone by tomorrow, so get them while you can!
